OUR VALUES

We are a Sustainable Gardening Business, committed to social and environmental responsibility. This includes:

  • Choosing the RIGHT PLANTS for the RIGHT PLACE: We choose appropriate native and non-native plants that will thrive in your climate, sun exposure, and soil.

  • Promoting ECOLOGICALLY SUSTAINABLE landscapes to benefit pollinators, wildlife, soil and water health. We prefer compost over fertilizer and hand weeding over chemical control.

  • WATER PRESERVATION to optimize irrigation systems and thereby preserve precious water resources in our High Desert home.

  • Commitment to a LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT using clean energy (95% battery powered tools to eliminate fossil fuel emissions and reduce noise pollution and hand tools), 100% yard debris recycling, and purchasing locally produced compost to keep yard waste out of our landfill to complete the recycling loop. We email invoices instead of wasting paper, and use recycled paper for office printing, and buy used furniture. Reduce-Reuse-Recycle!

  • Paying workers a LIVING WAGE (minimum $18/hour) and focusing on empowerment, democratic management, and collaboration versus top-down management.

  • INDEPENDENT, LOCALLY-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS certified as a State of Oregon Emerging Small Business

  • WOMEN POWERED  We are a State of Oregon certified Woman-owned Business Enterprise (and the only WBE landscaping company in Deschutes County!)

  • Commitment to SOCIAL JUSTICE including Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+, and Indigenous Communities (donated $200 profits from selling BLM & We Believe yard signs to Chuush Fund: Water for (Federated Tribes of) Warm Springs in 2020)

  • We are working toward becoming a Green America Certified Business
